Generating HAR files to identify the cause of service errors

Learn what users should check when errors occur while using Dataspace and Open Survey DIY services.

Updated today

If an error occurs while using the service, the customer service representative may request a HAR file from the user. HAR files contain records of network conditions before and after the user's browser use, so they are used to determine the exact cause.

To verify, you must create the HAR file yourself using the method below. If you send the created HAR file to the person in charge of your inquiry, we will identify the cause and provide guidance.

How users generate HAR files from their browsers

1. Access the browser and go to the service screen where the error occurred.

2. Right-click on the connected screen and select [Inspection] . Or, you can also use the method below.

  • Chrome: Three dots in the top right > More tools > Developer tools

  • Edge: Three dots in the top right > More tools > Developer tools

3. When [Developer Tools] opens on the right side of the browser screen, select 'Network' from the top tab.

4. Then check the 'preserve log' box .

5. Select the 'Erase' button to remove unnecessary records. This action does not affect service use or your PC.

6. Make sure the 'Record' button below is red . If it's gray, select the 'Record' button.

7. When the 'Record' button is red, recording is in progress. Reproduce the problem situation you experienced in the service.

8. Once the playback is complete, select the 'Download' button to save it as a HAR file. The file will be downloaded normally without having to select the 'Record' button again to stop recording.

9. Send the saved HAR file to the person in charge of your inquiry. Optionally, you can set a password for the file and compress it before sending it to minimize information exposure. In this case, please share the password you set with the person in charge.
