What is a Multiple Rating scale question?
A Multiple Rating scale question is a question type that allows several items to be evaluated using the same criteria. You can set multiple subjects (items) within a single question and configure them so that respondents answer using the same scale, such as a 5-point scale, for each item.
For example, it is useful when you want to evaluate several factors like a service's price, quality, convenience, and design all at once. Respondents go through each item one by one and select their level of satisfaction or agreement.
🧙 Try using it in these cases:
When you want to compare multiple items using the same criteria.
When you want to check the satisfaction or evaluation level for each item at a glance.
Creating Multiple Rating scale Questions
1️⃣ Question
This is the area to enter the question text to be shown to respondents. It is best to write the question in a way that can encompass multiple evaluation items together.
(Example) "Please evaluate your overall satisfaction with Product A based on several criteria."
Using the formatting editor, you can adjust the font size or style, and enhance the survey's readability and clearly convey your intention by inserting links, tables, images, or videos.
2️⃣ Evaluation Items
✅ Detailed Evaluation Items
This is the area to enter the content for the items to be evaluated, and you can add up to 10 items.
💡 Usage tip | Even if multiple evaluation items are set in one question, they are shown one by one on the respondent's screen. Once the respondent completes the answer for the current item, the next evaluation item is displayed in sequence.
✅ Rating Scores by Item
You can set the score to be selected for each evaluation item. Multiple Rating scale questions are provided as 5 points by default, and you can adjust them to any score from 3 to 10 points at the top of the question as needed.
You can enter guiding text corresponding to Negative / Neutral / Positive for each rating score.
[Dissatisfied – Neutral – Satisfied]
[Not at all – Neutral – Very much so]
[Strongly disagree – Neither – Strongly agree]
However, in cases where there are many rating scores, such as 4, 6, or 8–10 points, it is difficult to enter text for every step, so text can only be entered for the highest and lowest scores.
💡 Usage tip | In Multiple Rating scale questions, it is important to maintain the criteria once set until the end. For example, if you are surveying satisfaction with 5 points, you should not change to another score in the middle so that comparative analysis with previous responses is possible. If you are unsure which criteria to use, refer to the 5 things you must know when composing customer satisfaction survey questions for the first time guide.
✅ Edit All at Once
By using the [Edit All at Once] feature, you can enter multiple evaluation items at once. It is also possible to copy and paste text written in advance in Word or Notepad.
💡 Usage tip | If there are numbers or symbols in front of the entered text, selecting 'Remove Bullets' will automatically remove those numbers and symbols before entering the text.
💡 These features are also available for Multiple Rating scale questions.
Various features can be accessed from the settings on the right of the Multiple Rating scale question.
Randomize item order: A feature that shows the order of the set evaluation items to respondents randomly.
Item display logic: A feature that allows you to show or hide some items only to respondents who satisfy specific conditions. You can present only necessary items based on previous responses.
Question display logic: You can set the question to be visible only to respondents who meet the set conditions.
Skip logic: You can set which question to move to after answering the question according to the conditions.
Minimum display time: You can set the minimum number of seconds the question will be exposed on the respondent's screen.
Required response: This option sets the question as mandatory, so the respondent must answer it to move to the next.
