Setting Skip logic

This guide covers everything from the concept of Skip logic to setting methods, application conditions by question type, and usage examples.

📌 Skip logic is available on all plans.

What is Skip logic?

Skip logic is a feature that determines the next question to move to based on the respondent's answer.

You can set different subsequent questions for each respondent according to the content they selected.

Why should you use Skip logic?

1️⃣ You can reduce unnecessary question exposure and collect only data that fits the purpose

By letting respondents skip questions that do not apply to them, you can reduce response burden and lower the possibility of drop-out. By exposing follow-up questions only to respondents who meet the conditions, you can minimize the collection of unnecessary data for analysis.

2️⃣ You can make the survey flow more natural

You can design a seamless survey experience by setting it to move to the next question or the outro page according to the respondent's selection context.

How to set Skip logic

step 1. After selecting the question to set Skip logic, click [Set] on the right side of ‘Skip logic’.

step 2. Please select ‘Default destination’ and ‘Destination based on selected choice’ according to the desired design flow.

✅ Default destination

In ‘Default destination’, you can set where the respondent will move by default when they complete the response to the question where Skip logic is applied. If there is no separate setting, the respondent moves to the next question according to the question order.

  • Next question: Moves to the question immediately following the question where Skip logic was set.

  • Question in this block: Within the block containing the question where Skip logic was set, you can select and move to the desired question.

  • Specific block: Among other blocks that the current question does not belong to, you can select the block to move to.

  • Outro page: Among the set outro pages, you can set to move directly to the desired outro page.

✅ Destination based on selected choice

In ‘Destination based on selected choice’, you can set different destinations to move to according to the choice selected by the respondent in a single-choice question.

  • Not set (Follows default destination): If there are no additional settings, the respondent moves identically according to the option selected in ‘Default destination’.

💡 Usage tip | Please be careful as some response data may be deleted if you set it to move to a question prior to the question where Skip logic is set. For example, if you set Skip logic on Q3 and then designate the destination as Q1 or Q2, the response flow may repeat and data may not be collected normally.

How to check Skip logic settings

1️⃣ Check the ‘Skip logic’ mark

Once the setting is complete, the ‘Skip logic’ mark appears, and you can check the Skip logic conditions together in the settings on the right.

2️⃣ Check with Preview

By clicking the [Preview] button at the top of the screen, you can directly check the set logic.

💡 Usage tip | It is better to check the logic within the flow of the entire survey rather than checking a specific question separately. If you proceed with the preview based on the entire flow, you can more accurately check whether the questions are connected naturally as intended.

Have you completed all the Skip logic settings?

Since Skip logic is an important feature in survey design, it may feel a bit unfamiliar when you use it for the first time.
