Setting Display Logic

Guide on the concept and necessity of display logic, and how to set it up.

Updated today

📌 Display logic is available on all plans.

What is Display Logic?

Display logic is a feature that shows desired questions only to respondents who meet specific conditions. If they do not meet the set conditions, the corresponding question is automatically hidden and does not appear on the respondent's screen.

For example, if you want to show question Q3 only to respondents who selected choice 1 or 2 in Q1, you can set it up using display logic.

Why should you use Display Logic?

1️⃣ You can show only necessary questions to respondents

If the same questions are presented to all respondents, situations may arise where they have to answer questions irrelevant to them.

By utilizing display logic, you can show questions only to respondents who meet the conditions, reducing the response burden and making the survey experience more comfortable.

2️⃣ You can collect more accurate and reliable data

If respondents have to answer irrelevant questions, there is a higher possibility that the responses will become inaccurate or be completed without sincerity. Presenting questions only to the necessary respondents helps in collecting more accurate and reliable data.

How to Set Display Logic

step 1. After selecting the question for which you want to set display logic (the question you want to show based on specific conditions), click [Set] to the right of Navigation logic on the right side.

step 2. Please select the Question display condition and the Location to move for respondents who do not meet the display condition according to the desired survey flow.

✅ Question display condition

This is the area to set under what conditions questions will be shown to respondents. Please specify as a display condition which choice in a specific question should be selected for the question to be exposed.

  • Select question: Select the question to be set as the question display condition.

  • Condition: Select the desired condition from the items below.

    • Include specific response in: When a specific choice is selected in the selected question.

    • Do not include specific response in: When a specific choice is not selected in the selected question.

    • Answered: When any choice is responded to in the selected question.

    • Not answered: When no response is made in the selected question.

  • Select choice: Select the specific choice set in 'Include specific response in' or 'Do not include specific response in'.

In addition, conditions can be set based on 'Include', 'Exclude', 'Number of responses', 'Character length', etc., depending on the question type. According to the corresponding condition, operators such as =(equal), less than (<), greater than (>) can be selected, and choice selection or number/date conditions can be entered.

💡 Usage tip | You can add multiple conditions using the + button, and each condition can be connected in an AND / OR manner. Also, by utilizing [Add condition set], you can group multiple conditions into one group and apply AND / OR conditions between groups as well.

✅ Location to move for respondents who do not meet the display condition

You can select the location to move for respondents who do not meet the Question display condition at the top.

  • Next question: Moves to the question located immediately after the current question.

  • Question within this block: You can select the question to move to within the block to which the current question belongs. Moves to the selected question.

  • Specific block: You can select a desired block among blocks other than the currently located block.

  • Termination page: The survey ends, and moves to the termination page.

How to Check Display Logic Settings

1️⃣ Check the 'Display logic' mark

Once the setting is complete, the Display logic mark appears, and you can check the display conditions together in the settings on the right.

2️⃣ Check with preview

You can directly check the set logic by clicking the [Preview] button at the top of the screen.

💡 Usage tip | It is better to check logic within the flow of the entire survey rather than checking a specific question separately. If you proceed with the preview based on the entire flow, you can more accurately check if the questions are naturally connected as intended.

Have you completed all display logic settings?
