What is the Exclude Previous Respondents option?

The Exclude Previous Respondents option allows you to exclude respondents who have already participated in the same survey from the recipient list when creating a new survey collection group. If this option is not enabled, respondents who have previously answered the survey will be able to receive and respond to it again.

This feature is only available when collecting responses via email from respondents already registered in the data space. However, if the anonymous collection option is enabled, the Exclude Previous Respondents option cannot be used.

How to Set Up Exclusion for Previous Respondents

To exclude previous respondents, select Exclude Previous Respondents in the Advanced Settings area when creating a new collection group.

When Should I Use the Exclude Previous Respondents Option?

This option is useful when conducting the same survey periodically but wanting to collect responses from new respondents each time. Common use cases include satisfaction surveys or NPS surveys conducted regularly for brands or services.

For example, if you conduct an NPS survey for a specific service every month, you may want to exclude respondents who participated in January and February when running the March survey. In this case, activate the Exclude Previous Respondents option to ensure the March survey is only sent to new respondents.

  • If you enable the Exclude Previous Respondents option:
Respondents who participated in the January and February NPS surveys will not receive the March NPS survey.

  • If you do not enable the Exclude Previous Respondents option:
The March NPS survey will also be sent to respondents who participated in the January and February surveys.
