What Is a Seat?
A seat in Dataspace is a license that allows one user to access and use a specific Space.
In short, a seat determines how many people can collaborate together, and can be flexibly increased or adjusted at any time to match your organization's size or collaboration needs.
🪄 Understanding Seats with an Example
On the Professional plan, you can purchase up to 100 seats.
If you'd like 5 people to use Dataspace together, simply purchase 5 seats and invite those members to get started.
Seat Types
Dataspace offers two types of seats: Creator and Viewer. You can choose the appropriate seat type based on each member's role and scope of work.
✅ Creator seat
The Creator seat gives full, unrestricted access to all Dataspace features — including research planning, survey creation, data analysis, and report writing.
Creators can use Dataspace AI for everything from survey creation and analysis to dashboard generation, and can also view, edit, and download other survey data depending on their assigned access permissions.
💡 Tip | This is the right permission level for those who design and manage actual research projects.
✅ Viewer seat
The Viewer seat allows users to work with Dataspace AI and research outputs, even if they are not research practitioners.
Invited users can view outputs within a project — including reports, research plans, and research design documents — and can ask Dataspace AI questions or explore additional information based on those outputs.
Note that Viewer seats are limited to "View" or "Download" access, so they cannot create new surveys or edit existing survey data.
💡 Tip | The Viewer seat is ideal for stakeholders who need to review research results, share insights, or continue follow-up discussions based on the findings.
Changing Seat Types
📌 Only members with Admin permission can change seat types. Admins use Creator seats only and cannot be changed to Viewer seats.
1️⃣ Changing a Creator seat to a Viewer seat
step 1. Go to [Settings > Members].
step 2. Click the seat type dropdown in the row of the member you'd like to change, then select [Viewer] to complete the change.
