📌 Embedded Data Reference is available on all plans.
What is Embedded Data Reference?
Embedded Data Reference is a feature that lets you register respondent information you already have as parameters or MY Panel profiles in your Space, add them to your survey, and then pull the necessary information into your questions.
Using this feature, you can create surveys personalized to each respondent, and by combining the data with survey response results, you can also use it for more precise and detailed analysis.
How to Use Embedded Data Reference
📌 To reference embedded data in a survey, you must first register the embedded data type — parameter keys or MY Panel profiles — in your Space.
1️⃣ Select the question to reference.
Step 1. Select the question where you want to use the reference feature, then click [Reference > Embedded Data Reference].
Step 2. Select the data type to reference. 'URL Parameters' appear as the 'parameter' type, and 'MY Panel Profiles' appear as the 'profile' type.
2️⃣ Enter a default value and confirm the parameter.
Even if a question in your survey references a URL parameter, the survey may be sent without that value included in the response link. Or a MY Panel profile may be referenced but not yet registered for a particular panel member. Please set a default value to handle these cases.
3️⃣ Pull the parameter into the survey question.
In the survey editor, confirm that the embedded data type value is included. Once the setup is complete, the actual value will be automatically reflected in that position when the survey is taken.
Parameter formula: {{parameter_parameterkey}}
MY Panel profile formula: {{profile_variablename}}
💡 Tip | If a default value is also entered, it will appear as follows:
{{parameter_parameterkey || "default value"}}
{{profile_variablename || "default value"}}
FAQ
Q. Can I use a parameter for personalization only, without saving it as embedded data?
A. Yes, this is possible. Parameter keys containing personal information such as member names, IDs, or contact details can be used solely for survey personalization and configured so they are not saved in the response result data.
In this case, do not add the parameter to embedded data — instead, only configure 'URL Parameter Reference' in the survey question.
With this setup, the information is used only to compose the question text on the survey screen and is not saved in the response result data.
