Referencing URL Parameters

Learn how to apply personalized text to questions using the URL Parameter Reference feature — without storing respondent information in result data.

📌 URL Parameter Reference is available on all plans.

What is URL Parameter Reference?

URL Parameter Reference is a feature that lets you register respondent information you already have as parameters, then pull the relevant parameter keys into questions as needed.

Using this feature, you can create personalized surveys tailored to each respondent — without storing that information in the result data.

For example, it is useful when you want to display information such as a member's name, ID, or contact details in question text only, without saving it in the result data.

How to Use URL Parameter Reference

📌 To reference URL data in a survey, you must first register the parameter keys you want to use in your Space. For details on how to register, refer to the Register Parameter Keys in Space article.

1️⃣ Register the parameters (identification information) you want to use.

Step 1. Go to [Main Home > Settings > Features > URL Parameters] from the top menu.

Step 2. Click the [+ Register Parameter] button to register each piece of identification information one by one. (e.g., Customer ID, Name, Nickname, Region)

2️⃣ Select the survey where you want to use the parameters.

Step 1. In the survey editor, go to [Settings > Add Embedded Data > URL Parameters] from the left menu.

Step 2. Click the [+ Add] button and select the parameter key you registered earlier.

Step 3. Once the parameter is added, the selected parameter will appear under 'URL Parameters.'

3️⃣ Pull the parameter into the survey question.

When building your survey, if you need personalized text in a question or message, you can pull in the registered parameter information.

For example, suppose you want to insert the following text in a question:

"Hello, {name}! Please share your valuable feedback."

Step 1. Select the question where you want to add personalized text, then click [Reference > URL Parameter Reference].

Step 2. Select the parameter key to use and set a default value. The default value is the text that appears instead when the survey link does not include the corresponding parameter value.

Step 3. Click the [Add] button, and the selected parameter will be registered in the question. From this point, whoever clicks the survey link will see a customized question that reflects their name or other personalized information.
