Analytics is a web-based data analytics function developed by Opensurvey. It provides an interface and user experience optimized for analyzing survey data across various variable types, such as choice, text, and evaluation. Even without advanced data analysis expertise, users can easily perform tasks like cross-analysis between variables and creating result reports.
Let’s take a closer look at the features provided by Analytics below.
1. Provides Analytics Functions Optimized for Survey Data
Survey result data is story-based, consisting of questions and choices. Unlike matrix-style data, survey data requires well-connected question and choice texts to the response data for meaningful analysis. Analytics offers functions specifically tailored to this type of data.
The results screen is automatically generated as soon as the first response collection is completed.
Crosstab functionality enables easy comparative analysis by group and variable without relying on Excel pivot tables.
Automated data visualization generates charts appropriate for each variable type.
① Automatically Generated Results Screen
With Analytics, the results screen is automatically created when the first response collection for the survey is completed. There’s no need to manually create a dashboard using raw data post-collection. Additionally, you can monitor response trends in real time through the Results tab in Analytics.
② Crosstab Function
Analytics offers a cross-analysis function that lets you analyze data based on respondent profiles (e.g., gender and age) or survey variables. In the Crosstab tab, you can simply drag and drop to set the analysis unit and criteria, making it easy to create cross-analysis tables.
For example, consider a food and beverage manufacturer conducting a survey on preferences and drinking behaviors for its soft drinks. Suppose the survey reveals that only 32% of respondents purchased the soft drink within the past month. By using the Crosstab tab to analyze the data by gender and age, you can identify whether certain demographics are more likely to have made a purchase.
③ Automated Data Visualization
Analytics provides a data visualization function that automatically generates charts based on the variable type, such as choice, text, or rating scale. This eliminates the need to create chart images manually, allowing you to quickly analyze data by utilizing automatically generated charts in the Results tab.
Additionally, the chart type selection feature lets you modify the visualization style to suit your needs, ensuring that the data is presented in the format most relevant to your analysis.
2. Provide convenient functions to reduce analysis difficulty and minimize errors
When dealing with large datasets or complex structures, interpreting the data can become challenging. To address this, Opensurvey provides convenient features that reduce analysis difficulty and minimize errors.
Color shading to automatically highlight statistically significant numbers
Insight AI, which uses proprietary algorithms to interpret data meaningfully
① Color shading
Color shading is automatically applied to highlight statistically significant high or low values compared to the overall value in your analysis. Based on the interval estimation method in statistical difference tests, values higher than the overall value are shaded red, while values lower than the overall value are shaded blue, with an 80% confidence level.
Color shading is applied across all data tables in the Crosstab tab and Report tab. When you create a new crosstab table with updated analysis criteria or units, color shading is automatically applied and displayed.
② Insight AI
The Report tab in Analytics includes Insight AI, a feature that interprets data in natural language using Opensurvey's proprietary algorithm. It identifies and describes statistically significant differences based on your selected analysis units.
Insight AI dynamically adjusts its descriptions according to the analysis unit set in the Report tab. If you refine your analysis unit to better align with your data review goals, Insight AI will provide optimized insights accordingly.

3. Provides tools to assist with report creation after analysis
The ultimate goal of data analysis is to enable better decision-making for follow-up actions. To achieve this, it is essential to present the analysis results effectively. Analytics offers features designed to help you create and deliver clear, actionable reports.
Web presentation feature for immediate result sharing
PPT automatic report download feature for direct editing of text, tables, and charts
① Web Presentation Feature
Analytics provides a web presentation feature that allows you to report analysis results in real time. This feature enables you to present screens with analysis units and criteria set dynamically, making it ideal for internal reporting or collaborative discussions.
② PPT Automatic Report Download Feature
The PPT automatic report download feature allows you to edit text, tables, and charts directly in PowerPoint. This is especially useful if you need to share or present data in environments where web results screens or presentation modes are not feasible.
Additionally, you can create a PPT report for specific variable results by clicking the download icon on the variable-specific results screen in the Report tab. This allows for tailored reporting, focusing only on the variables most relevant to your analysis.
