Getting Started with Korean Panel Self-Survey

Updated today

What Is Panel Self-Survey?

Panel Self-Survey is a service that allows you to create surveys yourself and quickly collect responses from Opensurvey's own panels, without the need to provide separate rewards directly to respondents.

By automating the entire data collection process, you can obtain research results quickly at a reasonable cost, making it the most efficient way to get started with various types of research, including market consumer surveys.

🔍 For Panel Self-Survey targeting Non-Korean panels, please refer to the Non-Korean Panel Self-Survey process.

🔍 Before subscribing, please confirm the following!

Panel Self-Survey incurs both the Dataspace subscription cost and the Panel Self-Survey execution cost.

※ The Panel Self-Survey cost varies depending on billing factors such as the selected country, number of quota groups, target response count, incidence rate (IR), and whether a video is included.

If you want to check the estimated cost in advance, go to Calculate Estimated Cost, click Korean Panel, and select the following:

  • Required number of respondents

  • Number of questions

  • Expected incidence rate (IR)

You can immediately check the estimate for the selected conditions in the 'Estimated Cost' section on the right side of the screen. After reviewing the cost, if you determine it is appropriate, proceed with the following steps.

3️⃣ Create a survey with 'Create Consumer Panel Survey'

step 1. Click the [+ Create New] button and select [Create Consumer Panel Survey].

step 2. Use Dataspace's various features to compose your survey.

💡 Tip | In Panel Self-Survey, gender, age, and residential area information used for targeting are provided by default, so you do not need to collect this information through separate questions.

💡 Tip | If you have difficulty creating a survey, refer to the Dataspace Guide for Beginners | Creating a Survey to complete your survey.

💡 Tip | If you need to determine respondent eligibility based on survey responses, add questions to the screening block.

🔍 What is a Screening Block?

To improve the accuracy of survey results, you need to screen for appropriate respondents based on their responses. To achieve this, you can set up relevant questions in a 'screening block' so that only respondents who meet the required conditions can participate.

For example, if you want to survey new product concepts targeting 'people who purchased ice cream at least once a week in the past week':

  • Questions to check purchase frequency should be added to the screening block

  • Questions evaluating the new product concept should be added to the main questions

For more details, please refer to Understanding Screening.

4️⃣ Set up the collection group

step 1. Once you have completed the survey, click [Use Consumer Panel] in the 'Collect' tab.

step 2. Select the targeting conditions you want.

🔍 For more details, refer to the Targeting Setup document.

step 3. In 'Select Collection Method', choose your preferred collection method.

🔍 For more details, refer to the Select Collection Method document.

step 4. Select a sampling method.

🔍 For more details, refer to the Select Sampling Method document.

step 5. Set up quotas.

🔍 For more details, refer to the Quota Setup document.

5️⃣ Review the estimate and pay

💡 Tip | Once a Panel Self-Survey has collection history, the survey cannot be edited and collection group settings are also restricted. Please carefully review all content before making payment.

✅ For surveys without a screening block

step 1. You can review the estimate based on the conditions you have set.

step 2. Review the Terms of Service and click [Issue Invoice & Pay] to complete payment and begin response collection.

✅ For surveys with a screening block

If the survey includes a screening block, the cost is calculated based on the difficulty of recruiting the final respondents. The subsequent process also varies depending on which collection method you choose.

◾ Selecting 'Collect Immediately' as the collection method

step 1. Select the expected incidence rate range directly.

💡 Tip | In Panel Self-Survey with 'Republic of Korea' as the targeting country, the AI prediction feature automatically designates the expected incidence rate range, which you can modify if desired.

step 2. Enter the number of responses you want to collect in 'Target Response Count'.

step 3. Agree to the Terms of Service on the right side, then click [Issue Invoice & Pay] to complete payment.

step 4. Select either 'Immediate Distribution' or 'Scheduled Distribution', and collection will begin according to the selected timing.

  • Immediate Distribution: Response collection begins simultaneously with payment completion. However, if payment is made after 10 PM, push notifications will not be sent to respondents.

  • Scheduled Distribution: You can schedule the collection start by specifying a desired date. The scheduled date can be set within 14 days from the payment date.

◾ Selecting 'Collect After IR Verification' as the collection method

step 1. When the message 'This survey requires Incidence Rate (IR) information.' appears on the right-side estimate, payment for IR verification is required to find respondents matching the set conditions.

💡 Tip | The incidence rate (IR) is a value that shows the proportion of people among the total who exhibit a specific response.

For example, suppose a survey was conducted with 100 people asking "Are you currently keeping a pet?" If 40 of them answered "Yes, I am," the incidence rate of pet-owning respondents is 40%.

step 2. Review the Terms of Service and click [Start IR Verification].

step 3. Confirm the targeting conditions and quota information you have set, then click [Issue Invoice] to complete payment, and response collection for IR verification will begin.

step 4. IR verification will be completed within 24 hours, and the results will be notified by email upon completion.

step 5. Based on the confirmed IR, the final estimate is calculated. Review the final estimate and click [Issue Invoice & Pay] to complete payment, and the main survey will begin.

6️⃣ Analyze results

step 1. Once at least 1 response has been collected, the 'Analytics' tab will be activated within 5 minutes, and you can check the response results in 'Analytics'.

step 2. Refer to the documents below to analyze and use the data according to your desired purpose.

💡 Tip | If you find it difficult to interpret results and determine next actions according to your desired purpose, try using Insight Wiki.

Select the collected data and enter your desired purpose, and it will provide not only data interpretation but also implications and suggestions for the next steps.
