What Are Original Responses?
Original responses is a feature that lets you check the original text written by respondents for the variable being analyzed, directly within the Text AI tab.
Without navigating to the Response tab or downloading a separate raw data file, you can view the original text right within the analytics screen — making it easy to quickly understand the context of responses and efficiently find what you need.
How to View Original Responses
1️⃣ Select the variable to analyze
step 1. In 'Survey data' on the left sidebar of the Text AI tab, select the text-type variable you want to review.
step 2. Once a variable is selected, up to 400 of the variable's original responses are displayed in the 'Original responses' area in reverse chronological order, and you can immediately review the responses shown.
2️⃣ Search for responses by keyword
step 1. Enter the keyword you want to find in the search bar at the top of the original responses.
step 2. Only responses containing the entered keyword will be filtered and displayed, with the keyword highlighted within each response.
💡 Usage tip | Searching for specific complaint keywords, brand names, or product names lets you quickly find related responses.
3️⃣ Important responses
step 1. Click the star icon in the upper right of a response card to mark that response as an 'important response.'
step 2. Click the [Important responses] tab at the top to view all items you have marked as important responses in one place.
💡 Usage tip | Up to 50 important responses can be set per variable.
4️⃣ Copying response content
step 1. Click the copy icon on the right side of a response card to copy that response's content to the clipboard.
step 2. The copied content can be pasted directly into reports or documents.
How to Use Original Responses
Reviewing original responses alongside AI analysis results lets you understand the context of responses more accurately and get more depth out of your analysis results.

Reviewing original responses before applying analysis lets you quickly grasp the overall tone and key opinions across all responses.
✅ Compare alongside AI analysis results
Reviewing topic analysis or sentiment analysis results together with original responses lets you understand the context of which responses the analysis results came from, helping you trust the results more.
✅ Find quotable responses for reports
Directly quoting meaningful original responses can serve as supporting evidence for report writing, strategy development, and other business decision-making.
✅ Manage important responses separately
Marking responses with high analytical value as important makes it convenient to revisit them later or collect and manage them separately.
